In Between Days is not fanfic, but it is John Hughes-inspired. It's set in his hometown, but I put in a lot of stuff (and people) that Hollywood left out. Such as coke dealers. (I *have* written Breakfast Club fanfiction, but this isn't it.)

I teach university classes on Young Adult literature. I always include a section on "literature by young adults"--Jim Carroll, Arthur Rimbaud, S. E. Hinton, and sometimes some fanfiction. 

I'm also always up for talking about fanfiction, which is why I wrote a book on it.
