Hello!

I'm a fantasy fiend, and the quest I've set out upon on the Wattpad road, is to find my voice, find my niche, and just get busy writing. I've dabbled over the years, but now I want to get more serious. And less serious. What that means to me is forming a writing habit and to stop trying to write some comment on the human condition.

I've wanted to write for years, but I've always been held back by one thing or another. Here on Wattpad, I want to free myself from expectations, those of myself and those of others. I just want to write whatever I feel like, and not worry too much about whether or not it could ever be published.

To quote the actress Kristen Stewart,
"With writing, with directing, anything - I grew up to realise that you don't need to be smarter than other people, that you don't need to know things that people don't know. You're not providing a syllabus to life. It's really more of a personal experience to try and bridge this gap between us. Where you go, 'Gosh, I've had this idea, and I want to say it really loudly to see how many people feel that way, so we can be less alone.'"

My previous writing attempts have fizzled out, time and time again because I thought I had to bring some new insight to the table about what it is to be human. And I had none. I'm quite a philosophical person, but like every other couch philosopher, I have no answers. So I've finally decided my writing doesn't need to have any other purpose besides bringing me joy, no matter how fanciful the tale is.

That said, I thrive on feedback, and would absolutely love to hear yours. I'm a total noob - just finished publishing my very first chapter and would also love some help with designing a better looking cover >.< So send me a message me or comment, or help me discover new authors you think I might like.

In my real life, I'm a paramedic student in South Africa and a mother of four. Felines. They are my snuggles in the darkness.

See you,
Barbara
