Misscsolo started out like many other book reviewers probably did, I am an avid reader who has been reading consistently since middle school. I first started out reading Reader’s Digest and from there went on to Harlequin’s Romance. I had boxes of books at my Grandmother’s in her attic and in her basement. I wouldn’t bother anyone, I would just sit in the comfort and quiet of the cool basement and read for hours at a time. I didn’t have a particular author or style that I liked, I just wanted to read! Then I was introduced to Amazon.com where I could find pretty much any book that I was looking for. They had a section where after you made your purchases they would ask you to “review” your buying experience with them. I would always say” great job, quick service”. Then I was told how important it is to authors for customers to leave reviews of their books so that others would see it and possibly make a decision to purchase their books. So I figured, “I can do that” and that is how I started book reviewing. In 2010, author The1Essence gave me the opportunity to publish my reviews online through a page on her website, The1Essence.com and that brings us to who and where I am today.

Being a book reviewer is very fulfilling for me but at the same time you have to remember it is very much MY opinion. What makes a good book reviewer is your reputation. I am associated with many authors both nationally known and independent authors along with book clubs like ARC Book Club Inc. What keeps you afloat as a good reviewer is being consistent and fair. All reviews might not be favorable but they are not meant to be malicious. An author should learn from a review whether favorable or not, it is all a learning and growing process to become better in YOUR craft.
