Alright gang, I need some help figuring out the appropriate genre for Expressed.

I would put it squarely in YA, but that's not an option. It's near future (20 years or so) and there is some telepathy, etc. Does that make it SciFi? Moni and Brandt are on a mission to find their parents, so Adventure? The enemy is an all-powerful corporation raising an army of genetically enhanced children. Dystopia Time! (Also not an option ) The protagonists are teens. (*gasp* - not Teen Fic!)

So I know it doesn't really matter- the story is the story- but I'm curious where you would put it the help readers that would enjoy this sort of thing to find it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I really hope this isn't too sudden, but your writing style is really unique. I don't have time to go in depth reading Expressed as of right now, but I know I'll be drawn to it again later. I love how you focus on details, and the word choice you use is amazing. Moni probably on my list of favorite names!

I just wanted to stop by and thank you for following my page and adding "Candidate" to your reading list. Congrats on getting your story on the @_shortstory list :)

@Cauthon13 Yep, thanks :) It slows down the process of finishing a novel a lot, though. The detailed drawings often take longer than writing a chapter. But I enjoy the combination of things.

@elroadshow Thanks bud! So you do the art for your books too? That's awesome.

Wow! Wattpad profile @_shortstory_ just included For Want of White Pebbles, the first short story of my anthology Grimm Galactic, in their Once Upon anthology!

I'm super excited and honored that they thought enough of it to be included.

I would love it if you all would take a moment to show them some love and visit/vote on the chapter! Thanks!

I'm starting to think 'Expressed' is a lame title- I was going for a play on how both genes and emotions are Expressed (you'll see if you read the chapter 'Dark Connections' how emotions start to play a part of the plot). Unfortunately, there are tons of sappy emotional tales on Wattpad (Unexpressed Feelings, Expressed Love, etc) with similar titles, and I'm afraid potential readers might get the wrong impression. It's more adventure than crush-story! (Though there is a bit of that, too)

Do any of you that have read a few chapters have any better ideas for a title or thoughts on what the current title implies to you?

'R.E.D. 86-1892-H00D', the second short-story in the Grimm Galactic collection has materialized!

A naive AI designed to project her personality across interstellar distances encounters trouble on a routine mission to upgrade outdated terraforming equipment.

Quick read at about 2,000 words. I don't think you'll have any trouble figuring out which Brothers Grimm tale this one is based on, but I hope you'll enjoy my particular spin!
