Been listening to If I Lose Myself on repeat tonight and last night and I got a bit of inspo. 
          Started writing yesterday but didn't get a chance to finish so here's a preview because why not (see if you can guess whose POV this is)(if you have me on discord i might've already showed you oops! Didn't think to hide the pov yesterday mb):
          
          “Safety: 
          (noun) 
          
          the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or injury”
          
          He knew the definition. He’d looked it up in the dictionary many times as a kid. Countless nights were spent staring at the definition, memorizing it, remembering the taste of the word on his tongue, feeling the way it rolled off of his tongue.
          
          He knew what it meant. But he couldn’t fully grasp it. “Safety” was nothing more than an abstract concept to him, as it was to many other students. 
          
          Maybe one day, it would be more than abstract. One day, maybe someone like him can also feel safety. 
          
          The thought is swept under the rug as soon as it arrives, though.
          
          Safety is a privilege; one he doesn’t deserve. He tries not to think about morals and emotions too much, but he knows this much. He doesn’t deserve to feel safe. 
          
          It’s a nice thought, however, imagining a world in which he feels safe as he lays near the river watching the sun set.
