The conclusion to the party scene is posted, and offers a glimpse of what went on in a crowded Roman latrine. All after our hero had assured Praecia of his undying love for poetry ...

Now, I shall have a few days break and catch up on reading the stories I'm following. A thousand apologies for my tardiness of late, I was caught up in Rome.

Any further updates for Clodius since I was last this way?

CarolinaC

I see I will have to do some googling!

@CarolinaC   Hi there,
Oh my, there are courses / webinars / tutorials in everything! Check out the Writers Digest website—tons of good info...

Yes, that webinar was super useful. I already had her books (K.M. Weiland) on Outlining a novel, and Story structure, but the webinar had a lot of little extras, plus her personal feedback on a one-page outline. Weiland's website, 'Helping writers become authors' is a fantastic writing resource as well—lots of good stuff to be had.
            - I pasted the link below so you can check it out.

On the subject of structure, I also use Larry Brooks 'Story Engineering'. Both writers are great, Larry's had a humorous tone but he is a bit full of himself.

Woah, sounds like I've missed a lot. I am very, very curious to see what becomes of Clodius, and may have to pump you for information re. this novel structure course. I didn't even know people offered such courses! Was it fun? Was it informative?

Thanks for writing such a darkly humorous book. I'm a trifle too excited to start reading it.

@bombinating Thanks for adding "All roads.." to your reading list, and I hope it entertains as well as informs about life in ancient Rome.

I had a peek at your short story and I'm impressed by your writing skills—a rare treat here in Wattpad land to find such quality prose. When I have a moment I'll definitely check it out.

One thing, while "All roads.." is a polished draft, offline I'm into a big revision for structure and stakes and all that stuff. This is a 'fat' version that needs cutting and tightening, just so you know.

Hi Tristh,
Another great new Cover? I must admit - I like this one better, even better than the one with gorgeous Claudius.... The ladies do play quite an important part in his life!!
(It kept popping up and I wanted to check whether that was a glitch, or a crafty author at work. XD )
          All the best,
          Lina
PS: I have started writing my cozy mystery and I think I found my vocation..XD

lhansenauthor

@Cinilla I always loved that cover as well. They are all nice but this one is best. Anyway, looking forward to seeing what you lot have cooked up there. It can only be fun! XD
Writing is my therapy, there is a lot of mess in my life right now and revising one book and exploring another takes my mind of things and really helps. XD

@linahanson Hey Lina! A cozy mystery writer is born!! I don't know what they are exactly, but I've heard of the genre and will look it up. Whatever you put your pen to (or fingers to keyboard :)) will be excellent I'm sure. Wow, how do you find the time with the huge edits of CTs happening?

The cover for "All roads.." is actually an old version, but I decided to swap out for a change. I always liked it. BTW, thanks for following us at 'slingsandarrows'. I just had a cover done by a graphic artist here, and we have an outline for Part I with about 7 or 8 chapters written. The outline requires a new opening scene, which I'm doing, and once it's done and we have maybe 3 more scenes, we'll publish and start posting once a week. At least we'll have a little stock of chapters ready to upload!

I've been checking out Tru and the gang whenever you post a new chapter, and I'm just waiting for the next, and final (sniff sniff) scene before I comment. I like reading them through twice, having a few days to mull it over before commenting.
            Thanks for touching base,
            Trish

Hi Trish,
I went to read a chapter of "Clodius" and found nothing beyond 13.3. Have you been rewriting again?
          Harold

Cinilla

@WilsonGill Oh, forgot to mention where you can find the soon-to-be-published story. It's under the account name 'slingsandarrows'. Go there and 'follow' us so you'll know what's happening. I'm getting a cover done, should be fun.

@WilsonGill What??? Me rewrite? Harold, how can you say . . . Oh, probably because I've done that before.

Actually, I've been writing like mad, just not the main story. I've been working on scenes for another story that sends my guys (Claudius, Rufus, and Dudu) through time to modern day New Orleans. Where they meet Captain Morgan and two of his cutthroat crew in a seedy coffee shop, and a royal Mughal couple from the 17th century. Bad things happen, as you can well imagine, though for the moment the Romans have prevailed and rescued a princess (for a reward).

It's a group effort by four writers here but is not yet published. I'll let you know when we start uploading chapters. Kind of started as an April Fool's idea, then became a real story.

I have, however, returned to the past where I belong and am working on new scenes for 'All Roads..". , to pick up after the latrine disaster. Sorry for the Claudius blackout...

wizzobravo

Thought I would pop by and apologise.

Somewhere along the way you have been posting updates like a crazy person and I haven't read them yet. I've been busy at work and trying to summon up the enthusiasm to finish Cutthroats.

Anyway, I hope the New Year brings you joy and I promise to get back up to speed with Claudius as soon as!

Cinilla

@wizzobravo Happy New Year to you too! Please, no worries about not noticing Claudius. I am a horridly slow writer and just happened to have finished this last big scene (in 3 parts). About time too, after the months it took to edit and fiddle. Hope you enjoy them!

Your message is well-timed as I was meaning to write you and mention that I just noticed the Cutthroats update this weekend. I do drop by and check once a week or so in case Wattpad fails to notify me, and I was thrilled to see 3 NEW chapters of our poor West and his miserable gang. Will they escape the horror of prison in Salé or not? I am very eager to find out and this week is my week to catch up on my reading here.
