Real talk, I think TUA season 4 genuinely spoiled writing fanfiction for me. :/ Like, for example, Firestarter. I’m in a super Stranger Things mood and want to work on the rewrite really bad, but I keep getting too stressed to actually start. Because the shows going well — not perfectly, but well — so far and looks like it’s going to have a satisfying conclusion. Buuut…I though the same thing about TUA and it decided to swerve right into the trash heap last second, so now I’m scared of starting something only for the show to crash and burn hard enough for me to lose interest.
@alienglares That’s my exact feeling! Season 1-2 has such a cohesive story line (season 1 they don’t come together as a family and the world ends, season 2 they save the world because they come together) and then season 3-4 just feels like they were desperate to have those extra seasons they didn’t need. Only good things to come out of them are Viktor’s transition (pretty well written given the timing of when it was added) and like…some concepts they never pulled through on.
@Coruscant_Cosmonaut oh…..that’s definitely…..an ending. yeah. they had no ideas left in the writing room huh
@alienglares Basically when season 3 starts, it’s revealed that when the Hargreeves time traveled at the end of season 2, they ended up in an alternate timeline where Reginald adopted other children because their (The Hargreeves’) mothers díed before they could be born (Basically Harlan, the little autistic kid Viktor — Vanya transitions when Elliot did btw, so he’s Viktor if you didn’t know — bonded in the 60s kept powers from when he was revived. His mom dïed at the same time the super kids were born, and he basically kílled all of the mothers of the kids he knew — the Hargreeves — when his powers lashed out in grief.) Them existing in a timeline where they weren’t born causes a grandfather paradox, which eventually destroys the world and forces them to restart it in a world that Reginald built with magic universe machine (There is no way to explain the magic universe magic quickly, so sorry about that.) This snowballs into the ending of season 4 effectively being that the Hargreeves had to let themselves díe because their existence is poisoning the universe and it will always end as long as they exist. The final scene is a new, happy world where they’ve been erased entirely (It’s kind of implied they’ve been reborn as flowers, but fück off.) So, uh, yeah. The solution to the series’s over all plot is a group of traumatized people passively kíll themselves because something forced upon them makes them a stain so terrible it destroys the universe. Not the best ending.
https://www.wattpad.com/1546923541-teenage-fear-rules-form Horror apply fic upon yee! It's technically a sequel to another apply fic, but you don't need to read the original to apply. The due date is the 10th-14th, so it's a bit of a rush, but if you have a good idea I think it'd be worth getting it in quick. The author is REALLY good at horror writing and, while all the applications so far are really good, it deserves some more love. :))
I want to be excited for the Stranger Things date announcement, but this “three volumes” thing is dumb as shít. Reeks of Netflix finally realizing they’ve got pretty much nothing after Stranger Things (Since, you know, they cancelled 99% of the shows they started and the two shows they’re now pushing — Bridgerton and Wednesday — really aren’t going to replace that Stranger Things vibe for most people) and trying to drag it out as much as possible. :/ Or maybe I’m just burnt from TUA’s final and pessimistic. Who knows.
TBH I might not watch the show until it’s all out, because I just know if I watch as it’s released it’s going to ruin the entire end of the year. I’m sorry, I’m not dedicating months to worrying that we’re going to get a TUA season 4 àss ending. I’d rather just wait.
Lots of talk about how the ST kids will be “too old for their characters” when season 5 comes out (Which I think is silly but whatever), but TBH the timeline issue that confuses ME is how El’s hair has apparently grown SIGNIFICANTLY more between Season 4 and 5 than it did between Season 1 and 2, despite the rumored time jump being roughly the same. Like maybe it’s just me wanting El’s curly hair back, and maybe the choice was just the creators NOT wanting that (I remember something about it being a pain to curl Millie’s hair?) but I can’t help but wonder how El reach what appears to be season 4 hair length within a year or so.
Yes this is a lot for a character’s hair style, but LISTEN. There is so much character development in El’s appearance, ESPECIALLY her hair, and tbh that that been an inspiration for my own writing. So this point is special to me.
Fina Strazza in Prom Queen a couple months after I decide to use her as Kirby's new faceclaim. It is a sign. Prom Queen even takes place a year after ST 5 (it's set in 1988, season 5 is allegedly going to be in 1987.) (Admittedly I don't I'll actually USE Tiffany, if only because I'm already set on Fina in Paper Girls and her hair is a different texture there, but still. A sign!)
Reminder that I uploaded the beginning of the new Firestarter book! I would suggest at the very least putting it in your library if you want to read it, because it’s on a different book than the original.
I know I probably could have put it in the original, but that makes organization hard for me, and poor organization KÌLLS my motivation so…
https://www.wattpad.com/1542471161-firestarter-introduction Posted the beginning of the Firestarter rewrite. I don't plan to post any chapter for a while, though, because I'm going to try to finish season 1 first (Or finish however much of it I can before my summer break ends. Which ever happens first, but I'm REALLY hoping I get the season done first.)
Made a small change in how I set up the cast for Firestarter and I think it actually broke me (In the best way possible – OC creators know what I'm talking about.) idk if anyone is going to notice, but this is very important to ME. In other, unrelated news I think I finally got a picture for Campbell that won't get "I thought that was Tom Holland??" comments (Though I admit they're kinda special to me at this point, one of the many one–person inside jokes I have around Firestarter.)
Working on basics for Firestarter re-write (cover, aesthetics, etc) and I admit it’s not my most fancy or whatever, but am SO excited it’s not even funny.
Also working on new lore for the test subjects. On one hand trying to actually make a timeline for a story that was CLEARLY made without one (I say that about both my book and the show/comic integration) was a headache and a half. But on the other I’m actually super proud of how it turned out, sooo…I’ll call that a win.
