I really relate to the message Of Me!Me!Me!, I spend most of my time inside, messaging my watching Anime and Youtube videos.
But I don't think I'm in the same position as Shuu.
Despite how reclusive I am, I can still socialize, I still enjoy people's company, and I can talk to members of both genders with ease and have a lot of people that I would consider friends.
Issues I ever have is with my family. 
I don't know if Otaku Culture has anything to do with it, but I'm in a very strained relationship with my father, to the point where when he gets upset with me, he curses me out, and my brother's always bipolar with me, and I never know if he's going to be nice or act like I shouldn't exist.
The only person in my family that I truly feel a connection with is my mother, she's the only one that accepts my likes and dislikes and loves me for who I am, crazy favorites and all.
Otaku Culture has shaped me as a better person more than anything, before that, I was ignorant, I knew nothing about the world, I had no outlet for when I got angry, and I was judging of everything I came across and making racist jokes like all the other kids.
But now, I am a much calmer, much more creative, and much more understanding person.
I don't disagree that Otaku Culture can be life consuming, but it can also do good along with bad.

One of the worst feelings in the world is when you kept denying the good things people say about you because you aren't a naricist, and then they tell you you were right when you said there wasn't anything good about you.
