Danny Darkness

Hey there. I'm Danny. 



Welcome to the strange, and often dark, depths of my imagination; I hope you enjoy your visit. 



My world is the everyday one we see, and the one that most don't. Belief in those creatures termed 'supernatural' has been erased by science, and that very lack of belief allows them to pass amongst us undetected, to infiltrate our society. Magic is commonplace, and magical creatures hide in plain sight. Vampires own clubs frequented by those who emulate them. Werewolves stalk the parks at night and demons walk amongst us. The fae slip through the places where the border between our world and Faerie is thin.   



London is scattered throughout my fiction. For the first 25 years of my life I lived there. The London skyline is filled with towers that draw the eye upwards, but I grew up poor, in the endless concrete wasteland below. I'm not complaining. I didn't see the poverty and the squalor, instead I caught glimpses of pixies tiptoeing through burned out garages and abandoned warehouses. Plastic bags blown in the wind were fluttering sprites. Animals spoke to those who knew how to listen.   



I've moved now.  I swapped the urban magic of the city for the rugged beauty of Cornwall. The magic here is in the land itself. High, rocky cliffs soar above endless sandy beaches. Inland, the misty moors are dotted with the towers of long disused mines, with countless standing stones and rings of stone circles. It's home. But something of the city remains in me, and in my writing.
