I am a teacher, author, counselor, presenter, and survivor turned thriver. I started college after my husband, Nick, ended his life in 1987. I now hold a master’s degree in teaching and counseling from Indiana University and currently work as an elementary inclusion teacher. Writing was a big part of my healing. "One Side of Suicide", my first book, draws on my journaling to help me move from surviving to thriving in a powerful story of loss and love. I have decided to begin sharing my book on Wattpad to help others on their healing journey. The book includes journaling pages with writing prompts and professional resources.
I bring my passion for writing to students through my teaching and counseling and my work with Pen & Publish. My Personal Identity Project leads students to identify their beliefs, interests, and traits to create and define who they want to become.
I have been on the board of directors of the Indiana Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (www.AFSP.org), founded and served as chairperson for three, Bloomington Out of the Darkness Community Walks (www.outofthedarkness.org).
I plan to start sharing my first young adult novel in March 2014 on Wattpad.
