Edward Willett

Hi! I'm the author of more than 60 science-fiction, fantasy, science, and other non-fiction books for both young readers and adults, under my own name and under a couple of pen names. I'm also the host of The Worldshaper (www.theworldshapers.com), a podcast where I interview other science fiction and fantasy authors about their creative process.



As Edward Willett, I'm the author of the WORLDSHAPERS series from DAW Books: WORLDSHAPER, MASTER OF THE WORLD, and THE MOONLIT WORLD. Each takes place in a different fantastical world. The first is much like ours, the second is a Jules Verne-inspired world, and the third is "werewolves and vampires and peasants, oh, my!"

Other sicence fiction books are LOST IN TRANSLATION, MARSEGURO, TERRA INSEGURA, and THE CITY BORN (all from DAW Books) and RIGHT TO KNOW and FALCON'S EGG, recently re-released from my own Shadowpaw Press (www.shadowpawpress.com). MARSEGURO won the 2009 Prix Aurora Award for best Canadian science fiction and fantasy novel; I've been shortlisted multiple times. I'm currently writing a new space opera, THE TANGLED STARS, coming from DAW in 2022.



As  E.C. Blake, I'm the author of the MASKS OF AYGRIMA fantasy trilogy from DAW: MASKS, SHADOWS, and FACES, and the YA fantasy BLUE FIRE (Shadowpaw Press).  As Lee Arthur Chane, I wrote the epic steampunk-meets-magic fantasy novel MAGEBANE (also published by DAW Books). 

My non-fiction writing for young readers has received National Science Teachers Association and VOYA awards.



I was born in Silver City, New Mexico, but grew up in Weyburn, Saskatchewan Canada. I now live in Regina, Saskatchewan. In addition to being a writer, I'm  also a professional actor and singer who has performed in dozens of plays, musicals and operas in and around Saskatchewan. I'm married and have a teenaged daughter.
