A little Feb update.
Writing Ansel's next novel means I had to look to the events of To the Beat of My Heart when outlining this whole journey as there's a lot of crossover there. And man, I LOVE that book. When I started writing that I was in a deep depression. When I was out of my slumps, I knew I wanted to have a wild ride of a story but also I guess process my mental anguish along with Fletcher.
That has meant I have read all of that novel over the past week and edited it, fixing little things and expanding out other parts. I love a lot of my books for different reasons. I think this is my favourite story I've ever written. They say you have to write for yourself and while that is true for all of my stories, it felt especially true this time. I wanted to deal with mental illness, but also I knew it would be a fun story about four young guys drinking, travelling the world, lots of sex, mayhem and shenanigans. I am long since out of my depression but that impact of that is felt in the book. Sometimes in my re-read I was worried it got a little too miserable and rambly at times. Even so, I love it so much.
Now that that's done, it's time to really dive in to Ansel's final novel. And hey, if I get through that, we'll see what the future holds for me on Wattpad.
I will give one little tease to wrap up this post.
I have a short story coming. When fleshing out Ansel's story, I needed this enigma of a person as a catalyst for so much change in his life. That catalyst's name is Henry. I definitely think he deserves a short story of his own. More on that at a later date. ;)
