HUNTER BROCK

I am 14 years old and I live in a small town that is a few miles from St. Louis. My mom and my dad are divorced. Up until halfway through fourth grade, I was homeschooled by my mom, who didn't do so herself,  but instead putting me on a homeschooling website that didn't do a good job teaching. Most of the time I cheated through tests by just looking the answers up, so I was dumb as a bag of rocks, and I barely knew what a book was. 
   Because of that, my mom sent me to live with my dad. But sense I was already so far behind, nothing changed. That is, nothing would have changed if not for my stepmom. My stepmom is a teacher, so she was able to help me catch up. Because of her, I was not only able to catch up, but excel in all of my classes. I went from being a D student in the lowest math class to being a B student in the regular math class. In fifth grade, I was in all of the top classes, and, I kid you not, the lowest grade I got on a report card was a single B in language arts.
   My stepmom also kindled my interest in reading. Starting with books like "James and the Giant Peach" and "Charlotte's Web." I soon found the one author who made me love books. That person was Rick Riordan. But it wasn't until a few months after reading "the Lightning Thief" that I read the second book in the series, "Sea of Monsters." After that, I flew through the rest of his books. Once there were no more new books from him, I was craving more. I found an amazing series called "Fablehaven." Then my reading got out of control after finding "Eragon," then "Unwanted." Then, once in 7th grade, I went through so many series, including "Michelle Vey" "The 13th Reality" and a few others that I can't remember. Now I want to write my own books, to help other kids who are struggling in school. Someday, I want to be the one who starts someone else's passion for books. Thank you for reading this, person!
