Some renovation is coming on my page. Between Hay and Grass is moving to its own standalone story. Check it out!
The Singer in the Supply Closet will be unpublished for editing. It's likely going to be part of a longer story.

Do you prefer to read short stories as chapters in a collection/anthology, or as standalone books with multiple chapters?

Gaiatfox

@Jeanpragot That's a good consideration to have too! Also, I'm guessing that splitting up a long one-story chapter into several chapters allows more opportunities for reads/votes to boost readership. Which isn't the most important thing, but it helps to get the work out there!

@ApocalypticDumbass Thanks for this suggestion! I'm definitely starting to see the upsides to standalone short stories.

@KBSarge79 Thanks for your insight! I've been playing around with a cover for one of my short stories, and now I'm strongly considering making it a standalone book.

How do you all balance writing with a busy schedule?! As a college student, I barely have any free time to write. I find myself wanting to put my creative work over academics, but I need to make it through my last semester.

ApocalypticDumbass

@Gaiatfox I get where you're coming from. I personally am in my final year of high school. Yet as I've been sick for months now it's hard to find time to write let alone to get through a day at school. As for my stories they are currently on hiatus until I get in better condition.

@Gaiatfox Hey, I'm a college student too and I'm dealing with one of the deadliest subjects that is science... Well I always put my studies first even though my hands itch every second to leave the books behind and start writing. Always try to finish your college works fast and set aside at least half an hour for writing everyday before you sleep.. Like how people say to read a chapter before you sleep just like that. Well I believe you should find a solution out of this on our own unique way.

@Gaiatfox Well, you got to take care of school first. If you don't, chances are you going to have to do it again in some form to scrape a living. One answer to lack of time is writing hard, succinct copy. Cut out the flowery stuff, the adjectives, the number of characters, cut everything down to the bone. I know, you are already doing that, you can always pad it later. I am putting out stuff I started in the mid 1990's. I had to make a living, same thing as school... Hang in there, you have years ahead of you.
