So it's been awhile since I've been here. I got an announcement but I want to get this out first because it's quite important and I know that I still have quite a few followers both past and recent. If anybody on this site messages you asking you for money, it is a scam. Do not send money to people that you don't know. I recently got somebody asking me for iTunes gift cards in order to publish his book. And after having a little fun with the guy I finally muted him, because I knew exactly what he was after. But I want to stress the importance of this statement.

Do not send people money if they message you on this app and you don't know them. Do not send money to people if you don't know them regardless of where you get the message from. That's my public service announcement for the day, now onto my announcement.

I gave up my job for mental health reasons and I'm trying to get back into writing. Which means that I'm trying to get back in the posting. I'm not certain if I'm going to be able to salvage RuneCurse in any reasonable amount of time to start posting it, but I have two other stories that I'm currently working on. So during my downtime, between working on fish tanks, tiktok and therapy sessions, I will be trying to get back into posting on this site. Hopefully that all works out, and hopefully I'll see you guys again soon.

I thought I'd never get here, but I'm facing the climax of RuneCurse after starting it about three years ago. And I not only already have an idea for my next story, I already have the first chapter done and part of the second.

The new story is called Rogue Spell. It's set on an earth that has emerged our physical world with the worlds of fairies, angels, and demons. After a war between all sides cause heavy casualties among everyone, humans have been severely reduced in population. People have gone into the ways of Monster hunting and adventuring. The story follows three different protagonists. The first is a villainous mage, the second is a simple man learning the ways of what's called tinkering with absolutely no magic potential, and a group of four Adventures who each have their own personal issues.

The premise of the story is that the mage and the tinkerer swap bodies after the Mage attempts to use a homemade translocation spell. instead of switching places with a man he accidentally switches bodies with him instead. all of this happens of course after the adventurers come to attack the guy that the Mage works for, and the major attempted to escape with an entire case full of powerful magical artifacts.

It's going to focus on the fantasy element that I really loved to write, but it's going to be more comedic then most of the work that I've done. I wanted to have a good bit of humor involved in it instead of being such a serious story. One of my favorite ideas is this concept of living in a world where people essentially has to have insurance that covers dragon attacks, or stray magic damage. It's really turning out to be a fun idea, and honestly I can't wait to write the last words into RuneCurse so that I can dedicate a lot more time and energy into just this other story.

@civilised_troll I have a couple of unpublished chapters so far, but work and life stuff has made it tough to find writing time. I definitely plan on making it available here when I'm able to write it though!

My heart hurts. My husband and I had to make the hard choice to put our elder cat, my precious little boy, to sleep today. My son, my little Chu, who was two days old when he was brought into my life. His fight in this world ended today, and I am lesser for his loss. I sent him off with a piece of my heart. The rest of the peices...well, I'm fighting to put them back together.

I know so many people want me to finish this book, and I will. Right now I just can't. I don't have space in my mind for it. But once I have time to grieve, to heal, and quiet the terrible screaming in my head, I'll come back worth it and more. He'll guide me. Right now though, I need time and he deserves his rest. When he's ready to be my muse, to guide me, I'll know. But he's done so much for me in life. This is his time, his freedom now.

Be at peace little boy. Mommy loves you, forever.

Writing is taking a backseat right now. Much as I want to finish RuneCurse and start work on the new project I've been looking forward to, my husband and I are grieving over the declining health of our elder cat. A cat that I raised from two days old, who has been with me through some of the toughest parts of my life. I am 36 years old, and have had him since my third year of high school. He had been my best friend, and I love him like a mother loves her child.

So it is devastating to know that his kidneys are failing, and every day he eats less and less and grows weaker and weaker.

I need time to heal, and I can't write anything in this state of mind. I want to make this story amazing, that's why it's taken so long. If I push myself to write now, it will be something I ultimately hate to see.

The end is finally in sight! It's felt like an uphill battle, and there needs to be heavy revision before I start posting, but RuneCurse is entering its climax. While I'm excited to start posting finally, there are far too many continuity and story issues I have to address first thanks to changes made along the way. Thankfully I'm only anticipating that taking a month or two to resolve (I probably doomed myself there, haha). Full time work as an "essential worker" makes things a lot more difficult for certain, after I finish the last chapter I'm going to immediately start re-reading to do an in-depth assessment of each chapter. First note-taking to see what each chapter contains, then using those notes to find inconsistancies and redundancies to guide revision. This is a lot different from what I did with OathBlade, as that first draft turned out surprisingly neat compared to this one. RuneCurse, though, has a lot of issues that need to be resolved. I do hope everyone enjoys the story once it's finished, though!

Time got away from me again but here I am once again to assure the world I'm not gone forever, haha.

Progress on RuneCurse is coming along at a much healthier pace now, though I'm going to have to do a lot of work to bring it up to standard once I'm finished. Of my 170k word goal, I'm currently at 156k. And I'm happy about that, but I expected I'd be in the books endgame by this point and I don't feel like I am. Not worried, though. OathBlade was a bloated mess too, before I streamlined the story. Right now what RuneCurse suffers from most is a bit more meandering than I meant. The story evolved as I went, things got a little muddled, and I'm going to have to go back and fix a lot of continuity issues. I had planned to set writing aside and do a full audit of each chapter, write stuff down, figure out what needs to be fixed, but right now I just want to see it to the end. All the editing can come later, as its meant to.

OathBlade's continued support never ceases to amaze me. I wish I had time to sit like I used to and respond to every comment how I used to, and would like to find some way of doing that again in the future, because I'm always happy to see people still commenting on the story. But with my work schedule and the things going on in my life that's pretty tough. So I just want to say thanks to all the new readers who've taken time to vote and comment, it means a lot. And I know the sequel is taking a while, but I'm trying to make it worth it.

@April_Parr I admire your determination in finishing this journey! I feel like I've made a commitment to the journey of Elery (by starting the book) and now I need the sequel no rush though, I can wait for the author to perfect her art <3

@hadesismydad thanks so much! I've been working on the sequel for a while now and it's finally almost ready. Full time job has been making it tough but when it's ready I hope you'll enjoy it as well! I'm always so glad to hear that people still enjoy OathBlade, I loved writing it.

@April_Parr I just finished OathBlade and I absolutely LOVED reading it!! You are a fantastic writer! I love the details you put into the surroundings, facial expressions, etc (literally everything). And I love that you differentiated the characters' speech, they all talked in a different way and some had accents depending on where they were from. It was awesome!!

Progress update!

I've just started chapter 55 of RuneCurse and I've come to the conclusion that I will soon have to take a short break from writing it to take what I'm calling an 'information audit' of each chapter so I can smooth out the ever-increasing ripples caused by rogue, outdated, and just plain weak plot threads. This will involve me mindfully reading each chapter and making detailed notes about what happens, then applying some fixes based on what I find.

See, my method of writing this story (Like with OathBlade) has been to discover it as I go. But this story is different as there is no immediate "in your face" conflict with a main baddie in need of killing. Well, there is, but the conflict here is more subtle and is based more heavily in politics and more delicate maneuvering. And, to put it mildly, I am more a bull in a china shop sort of writer. Fights and panic and tense conflicts that involve one person putting a sword or knife or broken wine bottle through someone else's skull. So this sort of plot is a lot harder for me because I worry that it's just not exciting enough.

I had a rough idea of the story but, just like with OathBlade, the direction changed a little. And I continued writing with those changes in mind, but didn't really go back through and apply the changes. So now I have a story with a lot of muddled information. So this audit is sorely needed before I start posting because things are a little bit of a mess.

Just wanted everyone to know I haven't given up. I just need a little more time, and I thank those who've been waiting for their saint-like patience!
