@HazulMun96 True. There aren't many people who like creative writing or reading. However, there are a few published authors from Northeast La. Some of them are self-published through Amazon or other self-publishing sites, and there's been a few stories by some authors who rank in a best-seller list. But there aren't many people in the area who will use Wattpad. This app and site is looked down upon by many in the book industry, and it's not a site that has a good reputation for starting authors. A lot of higher ups (publishers/agents/editors/published authors) do not take books, good or not, seriously that are posted on Wattpad and sometimes don't associate themselves with the writer. Wattpad in particular is mostly known as an amature writing site and many stories aren't "well-written". I've read many wonderful stories here that could be best-sellers, but not everyone has an opportunity to get there work shared and published. Pre-pandemic, there was a writer's group (20 writers or so) from North Louisiana that met up twice a month at the West Monroe Convention Center. They shared what they had been working on and genres they challenged themselves to write. It was a nice group and there were three out of that group who had stories posted on WP, until word got around to "remove their stories". So that's what happened before pandemic days. The one girl who writes fanfiction likes to write for fun and not try to pursue a career in writing or win awards. A lot of writers from town that want to be taken serious will not use this platform. And many popular authors does have a page, but most of them only post samples of their stories. I wish the group disband the meetings, but I'm hoping they pick it back up. There were a variety of people who had written in different genres attend the conference, and some editors/publishers were there to shed light on how to become a published author. I miss it.
