Hi everyone, A belated Happy New Year! Hope you enjoy the first chapter of my new book, continuing the diary of Josh from Half my Facebook friends are ferrets. This book includes a look at anorexia and proceeds from the sale of the book are going to the UK charity BEAT, which helps people with eating disorders. Thanks for reading x

Hi everyone, thanks for all the follows! Here's an extract from my new Josh and Ozzy book. Hope you like it

... There’s a call from downstairs and Holly gets up. “Back in a sec, ” she says.
Holly leaves and I find myself looking round her room. I notice on her desk there is a diary. Hmm interesting, she is a fellow diarist like me…
No, I am not reading someone else’s diary, no matter how much I want to!
I could just have a browse without actually reading. Just to see if I catch my name.
          No Josh!
Oh, what the hell. I pick up the diary and open it carefully but then am dismayed to see lots of bits of paper falling out. Carefully, I shove them back in but not before reading one:
          Apple small - 40
          Ribena – 80
          I slice toast and butter – 100
Half a bag of ready salted crisps – 60
What does that mean? Then I see another list:
          Binge box
          I Penguin biscuit
          1 Snickers
          1 Mars bar
          3 plain chocolate digestives
With a teenager’s natural instinct for these things, I look under the bed. There, at the back, is a shoe box. Listening out for any noise and hearing none, I worm my way under the bed and lift up the lid of the box. It is stuffed full of chocolate.
Suddenly, I hear talking and steps on the landing. Luckily, I can move lightning fast when the occasion calls and so I am back sitting back on the bed casually humming and examining my fingernails before Holly comes in.
Question is, what do I do now? Do I:
          a) Confront Holly about diary and box?
          b) Diplomatically move conversation around to eating problems?
          c) Pretend it never happened?
“Sorry, Josh,” Holly says. “But Mum thinks I should pack now.”
          “Oh, no worries,” I say.
I get up and follow Holly downstairs to the front door. I don’t want to do a) as it might upset her just before her holiday. It’s too late to do b) and so I am left with c) Take the easy way out.
          “Bye,” says Holly.
I put my arms around her for a hug goodbye and it’s like holding a baby deer, soft but full of fragile angles...

You are very talented. I just started reading your book and it really is amazing. I wish to become as good as you some day. Thank you very much for the comments on my book. I do try my best in it and I am very glad someone who is a very good writer like yourself would comment on it.
          Thank you
