A star.
Many see it, sometimes it’s a fleeting thought in their minds.
 Another light in the darkness.
 A life.
A star sits in the abyss, shining just bright enough for those looking up to see it, and dream.
 A star can inspire, or detour all those under it.
 The stars are an imperative part of life, without the light of a star, skies and minds alike would be dark, cold, and lifeless.
 Yet, for all that the stars are and for all that they give with their light, there are none who actually see a star.
 They know of it, they can say it changed their lives, they can say it changed everything, made them see, made them think, made them live.
Love.
But for all that the stars are, for all they can be, no one knows them.
 None have ever been close enough to see what it is that gives the star its light, or know if there is more behind the light.
 All the star is to those who see it, is a light, a light that’s meanings are as diverse as the ones who see it, many things to many people, but that’s all it ever is.
 A light.
 It’s for this reason that, though there are many, the stars are alone.
 They will live their entire lives illuminating the darkness.
 But when they die, it will be alone.
 Its cries will fall upon deaf ears, when its light goes out none will miss it, no one will even see it.
 None will ever know.
 But I wanted to know.
 I held my hands in the air trying to grasp them, the yearning to know them bled in my stomach like gasoline into a fire.
 I needed them.
I loved them.
 I had to see behind the light, to see what was unseen.
 So I searched, soon I found there are countless who wished to hide the light, to take the stars.
 So I fought.
Many saw me fight, and they fought.
 For there were many who wanted to see light, to see the stars in their life, but couldn’t because of the unrelenting darkness.
I won.
We won.
And I ventured to the stars.
 Now I see them, I know them.
 As I sit here, gazing at them, I realize that I am just like them.
 I am a star
