I live in the misty marshes of Wirral, described as a haunt of ‘godless people’ even in the days of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight! I spent most of my childhood playing in the ruins of a Victorian zoo and when I wasn’t doing that, I was writing or telling stories. I love traditional music and running too… which you'd realise is a useful combination if you’d heard him play the mandolin.

My first book, Mortlock, was published by Bloomsbury in 2010 Followed by The Demon Collector (2011) and The Bonehill Curse, Deathmire (2012). my new series Monster Odyssey is out now.

But not everything I write has to be published in books!
