I spent my childhood in Lincolnshire and went to Art College in Leicester before enjoying the London scene in the sixties. After a chance day trip to Brighton I knew that Sussex was where I most wanted to spend my life. My love of the 17th century began at the same time and it has never left me. I started to write when my three children were small and I was able to spend more time at home. I have since
written several stories based around the actual events of the period, set in both England, and France and following the lives of some of the same characters.
My first novels, Designs of a Gentleman - The Early Years and Designs of a Gentleman - The Darker Years, were published by Sacristy Press in October 2014 and were launched at the Durham Book Festival. My sequel, High Heatherton, was published by Troubador in April 2016. My next novel in the Philip Devalle series is The Orange Autumn, which is also being published by Troubador, and will be available in April 2017.
I found a lot of my inspiration in my many visits to Versailles, which gave me a great deal of insight into one of my heroes, Louis XlV, as well as a passion for gardens and gardening! I also like to paint, enjoy boating on the French canals and scuba diving in the Red Sea. I have helped on a local archaeological dig and enjoy exploring the ancient landscapes of Britain as well as following Native American trails in the deserts of southwest U.S.A.

I have a Wordpress blog site, Judiththomsonblog.wordpress.com where I post, amongst other things, a monthly blog called 350 years ago this month, based on the diaries of Samuel Pepys. I am also a Goodreads Author.
