My story is a story about a young girl struggling with fitting into a society that's designed for the able bodied. Polio was rampant in the early fifties, it did not have a vaccine until around 1954, at the age of three I came down with the virus and changed the course of my life. Many lives were lost because of this virus, but many more were saved with the polio vaccine.
