Mara Valderran is an author of fantasy, science fiction, and romance, but she's more than just a madwoman with a writing box. She is an avid reader and fan of all things sci-fi and fantasy. She loves roller skating, the musical Rent, and Marvel movies, though typically not together. She hopes to one day meet Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG1, or at least the actor who played him (here's looking at you, Michael Shanks). When she's not writing, you can find her reading, walking along the river, and writing insurance.
Update April 10, 2019:
Whew. Bios are hard. Basically, I'm a geek and I love to write. I published my first book in 2013. I went on to get a publisher for another book, do book signings in cool places like Manhattan and Vegas, be a guest at a convention alongside best-selling authors much cooler than me, and even work as marketing director for a small publisher.
These were some great experiences, but I'm going to be completely honest here--I'm not a big fan of the business side of the book world. It's basically running your own business, which is stressful, takes money, and can suck the creativity right out of you. My life has changed drastically since I first published Heirs of War, and exactly one year ago it changed even more. I don't have room for the stress but I need the writing again.
Writing has always been a form of therapy for me. A way for me to actually find peace in my own hectic mind, and I'm finding I need that more now than ever. I miss writing and I miss connecting with other readers. Which is why I'm coming back home to Wattpad and putting everything I write on here. I've always received an outpouring of support from Wattpadders and have appreciated the messages I've continued to get even in my absence from the book world. I look forward to sharing my crazy stories with you all again.
