Happy Saint Patrick's day and I hope you’re getting good weather!
March is a turbulent, unpredictable month in Ireland where it can go from sleety gales to the softest spring breeze in less than an hour. So much so, that at one point, there was talk of changing the date to later on in the year, when the weather would be more likely to smile on the parades. However, March 17th is so deeply engrained in us all that it never came to anything. Somehow, St Patrick’s Day on any other day just wouldn’t feel the same.
Anyway, if you’re in the mood for a little 1990s Irish nostalgia, the audiobook of First Kiss, Kit & Tully Book 1, is Free today on Google Play Books.

It’s Google AI narration, which is still very new and only became available last summer. I’ve experimented with doing my own audio in the past, so as soon as I heard about the AI option, I was dying to try it out. Doing it myself was a very steep learning curve, with a lot of hiccups on the way. Google AI makes the process so much easier. One of the things I love is that you can choose several narrators. So, for example, in First Kiss, I have a Narrator to read the introduction and headings, I have another narrator for Aonghus and then I have a main narrator for Tully. And he’s a young male, which, obviously, wouldn’t be possible if I was doing it myself!
On the other hand, the range of narrators is still quite limited, and there aren’t any Irish accents yet, so I’m sticking with American voices for the moment. If Google AI introduce Irish alternatives later on, I might be able to change that. It’s definitely an evolving technology, and not the same as a real voice, but it has possibilities. If you’re interested, please give it a listen, and I’d love to hear what you think!
