So... this is a hard situation. Wilbur Soot has been a big part of my teenage years till now, and I truly looked up to him as an idol. I don't know how to feel about that now.
I think Shelby is incredibly brave and strong for sharing her experience with the world, and I believe that we should support her. It's crucial to prioritize supporting survivors and creating a safe environment for them to come forward.
Wilbur, no matter my past biases, is a horrible person, and I will not excuse his actions or behavior. I strongly believe that no one should be supporting the abuser over the victim either. I am very disappointed and disheartened by the recent revelations, but I am grateful for the courage of Shelby who has spoken out. It is important that we listen to and uplift victims while holding abusers accountable for their actions.
Sorry for the long paragraph, I've just admired him for so long and... for people like me who loved Wilbur as a cc and singer, it's okay to feel sad and grieve over this for as long as you need to. A friend of mine also on this platform told me this and I would like other people to realize this as well. it's okay to feel conflicted about someone you once admired.
I probably will not take down any of my work relating to Wilbur and any of his "characters", because they are few of the pieces that I have worked hard on and the characters in them have become more of "my version" of the originals.
