Hi Kayla! That’s a great question. I believe the answer to this is because this book and many others that are similar are aiming for a certain demographic. If the main character is young, the target demographic (which is young people in this case) can relate more and feel more involved in the story. Another thing is I was also young when writing this book and it was almost like a fantasy of mine so I could live out the experience through someone similar to myself.
