To whomever it may concern:

Last year, I wrote a dark sci-fi short story called DOKTOR MADD. Not even a week ago I finished a companion story called MADD.

Why am I telling you this?

So that you can read both.

          1. DOKTOR MADD - https://www.wattpad.com/767455011-tevun-krus-70-punk-wars-ii-doktor-madd-a-short

          2. MADD - https://www.wattpad.com/877966176-tevun-krus-84-best-of-2020-madd-madmikemarsbergen

          Enjoy.

Starting up a new novel project—well, I started at midnight, just before bed.

It's called PINK DOLPHIN PARADE, and I will be querying it (when it's done) as the first JOSEPH TUGGER comic-mystery novel. For anyone not in the know, Tugger is a parody of Jack Reacher and John Puller (and Jack Widow, and all the other knockoffs of Reacher). I think about him all the time, how he'd respond to situations, how he'd automatically assume there's a grand conspiracy in play no matter where he is. My now-ex-fiancée and I used to chat for days about Tugger and his future in the publishing world.

Now it's time to make it a reality.

You might recall LEARNING CURVE, the previous Tugger debut-in-progress. I decided a fresh start is best, and the best thing to do would be a new novel set right before LEARNING CURVE.

PINK DOLPHIN PARADE is that novel.

These are the current opening lines to PINK DOLPHIN PARADE:

          ONE

Riding the bus, I knew it was a sign from the wandering-loner gods when the road markers kept popping up for a fanciful place called Pink Dolphin Parade. The name intrigued me. I’d always wanted to go on a pink-dolphin ride.

Five miles and counting on the odometer in my head.

This bus was headed to the city, my initial destination, but one thing I’m not is someone with a solid plan. So I said to hell with the city. I would stop the bus as close to Pink Dolphin Parade as possible—or die trying.

Not to brag, but I’m a keen observer, able to pick up on the slightest, most insignificant details others miss. I’m also prone to voyeuristic tendencies. That means I spy on someone picking their nose and then end up catching them smuggling a hundred kilos of coke in empty cans of Coca-Cola.

          It happened once, in Barcelona.

But we don’t talk about Barcelona.

This bus didn’t have cocaine cartels. Instead it had a granny in a skirt seated in the aisle across from me, with a faded blue blotch on her left arm and a double-barrelled shotgun barely concealed between her legs.

It took longer than expected, but I've finally finished my DreamPunk story for Tevun-Krus #84: Best of 2020.

It's called MADD, is approximately 16000 words, making it one of my first "epics" in quite some time. MADD was one of the most difficult stories I've ever written, touching on sensitive and personal topics. It was highly therapeutic for me to write. I hope it proves an engaging read. For any diehards out there, the story does serve as a sort of spiritual successor to a previous story of mine, DOKTOR MADD.

You can give MADD a read here:
