I didn’t know I needed a slow-burn sci-fi romance until I found “The Assassin of Time” by @RedPetal49. This book blends dystopian time-travel elements with a well-paced, emotionally grounded romance. What stands out most is the way the relationship unfolds. No sudden confessions, no insta-love. Instead, two characters with depth and history navigate trust, longing, and subtle closeness. Every glance, every quiet moment builds tension and burns slowly until it’s impossible to ignore. It’s the kind of romance that creeps into your heart and refuses to leave.
It’s certainly an art form I wasn’t familiar with. As a traditional sci-fi/action reader, writer, and consumer, slow-burn romance wasn’t something I had much exposure to before.
The world-building is equally compelling. The science fiction backdrop feels lived in, complex, and plausible (although I hope not for all our sakes!). This book doesn’t just tell a story. It tugs gently at your soul. Red has mastered the art of seduction through slow burn, and I’m inspired. If you love dystopian sci-fi with deeply felt romance, layered characters, and a slow burn that scorches, give this one a try. You might not know you craved it until you’re halfway through…and completely hooked.
GO READ IT!
