If any story seems off course, I just let it go with whatever scene would happen and how they would react accordingly to the events. I'm pretty good at psychology but not good at putting it into words, so if it seems run-on or anything, it's totally my brain unable to come up with words. Plus I totally need grammarly.
I only upload a chapter a day to not over-work myself.
