Emily Welsh

I was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on November 23, 1993. Growing up, I always enjoyed watching anime, getting immersed fully into the elaborate and whimsical stories. Anime has been and always will be a big influence on my life, whether it be shown through my talent in art or the stories I write. As I grew older, I decided I wanted to make a career out of telling my own fantastical, anime-influenced stories and anime-style artwork. I am a graphic artist, and I draw anime-inspired artwork almost daily. People also pay me to draw pictures for them.
     The first thing to ever inspire me to write my own book was an anime called Inuyasha. Of course, I was nine when this happened, so the story didn't result in anything spectacular, but I didn't give up and I kept on writing. After three attempts at writing a completely original story, I came up with "Hostage to Fortune". From then on, I knew that I had to keep writing; I grew to love it so much.
     I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I couldn't write. I would be lost. But other than writing and drawing, I love to read books and listen to music in my spare time.
