Somehow I write better at night, when all is dark and no-one sees. When the lamp illuminates only the smallest part of my desk, and everything else is hidden in shadows. 
As if there were a second layer to the world, that can only be seen, when reality is almost gone.

I think writing is the closest we'll ever get to doing magic. 

Just think about it. 

You take an empty sheet of paper, plain and white. And a pencil. Nothing more.
You set the pencil to the paper. You hear it scratch as it moves across the surface leaving a thin, grey line. 
The line wriggles and forms loops. 
And if you move the pencil right, the loops form words. The words form structures. The structures form sentences.
Then look back. 
And in the wake of your pencil rise people, houses, cities, eternal lovers, hosts of armies, entire worlds. Whatever you chose to bring to life. 
None of them ever existed before. They rise from nothing, just from the white paper and your thin, grey pencil line. 
And if you were to crush the paper with your hand, they'd be lost forever. The hopes they had, the rooms they walked in, the kisses they shared... All gone, never to be recovered - not even by you.

Do you see it yet?

Then let me tell you a story...
