What is the Wattys?

A contest, you may answer. But what kind of contest? A good one? Or a contest, which has the Wattpad flaw.

What is the Wattpad flaw? Let me explain: It's how Wattpad sorts books. They get sorted after views and votes. But never quality. Of course, that's fair enough, there are too many books on Wattpad for it to be possible. But it has consequences: those rare gems that are hidden on this website, stay hidden. They are covered in the dirt of clichés, and nobody scrapes the dirt away. Why? Because they don't know they are there. 

But why was the dirt there in the first place?  We don't know. We know that some in the start weren't dirt, but then people started copying the idea. The problem is when you copy someone idea and fail to make it you own, the book becomes dirt. It only gets worse, when people read it. Maybe those people liked the idea, and couldn't get enough of it. Maybe they don't have a big enough vocabulary to read a good book. The point is that dirt is covering the good books. 

Why does the Wattys have the 'Wattpad flaw'? Because the Wattys only look at the dirt, and never sees the gems. They don't read the books, they make people vote about who should win. But if people only know the popular books, which usually are dirt, how often do you think a good book wins? Not often.

This is what our profile is about: defeating the Wattpad flaw. 
The first step to that is our contest Rewrite Reality. Here we handpick the participating books so everybody gets a fair chance. To do this we have a team with 2 members in each genre. Those 2 persons each pick the ten best books, and then together choose the 10 best out of the 20. Then you guys vote on the remaining 10 books.
