re: The Sleep....

Evie's voice was the first thing that came to me. She wasn't overly cool. She wasn't overly skilled. She wasn't overly together. And I liked that about her. She was refreshing (if a bit cynical).

Add to that an impossible situation, and it was just a matter of sitting down at my keyboard.
