I grew up along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in the small town of Wareham, Massachusetts. My appreciation for writing began with reading, which was supported and encouraged by my parents who were avid readers themselves. My passion for writing was sparked while I attended elementary school where I was first exposed to Edgar Allen Poe's Tell Tale Heart in the sixth grade when our English teacher did a dramatic reading. My first attempt at fictional writing was a simple school assignment for which I wrote a short story titled, Lori and the Cream Colored Horse. The tale was centered around the friendship between a girl and her Palomino horse. My teacher recognized my ability with storytelling and encouraged me to explore the aspiration to be an author. Once the inspiration to write was realized, I continued to explore the world of words and began my journey of self-expression through poetry, plays, and prose. While most of my early works were lost, my passion with language was not and while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater, I also minored in English attending numerous courses in creative writing.
