Why don't people appreciate poetry and poets enough?

Poets are the human form of a hug, of whisky under the blanket on a icy cold winter evening, of sunshine interspersed b/w your curls falling on your forehead; of all your self-talk, guilt-trips and hopeless nights put together into something that makes all the hurt slightly beautiful, and yet you refuse to appreciate things that let you see tomorrow's sun after today has been everything that you didn't want it to be.

Please don't hold yourself back. Poets thrive on being able to create value and meaning for themselves and for people in this chaotic life, and if you EVER feel you can connect to a line/to a poem/ to any of their work- please mention it to them right then and there.

Trust me, it means the world to them. And often, they need you more than you need them. You help artists go on (in their fight against themselves, against establishments, against 17373 things) just as much as they help you settle into establishments while losing your sense of self, without forgetting to stare at the moon, without forgetting to call your mom every fortnight if not everyday, without forgetting how rewarding human convergence and connection can be.

Go show your love! As much as you can! Hug, laugh, embrace, and throw kindness around all the fucking time! Happy writing, Happy reading, Happy loving!
