Small update to chapter 14 of Death's New Adventure. The next chapter didn't really mesh well into the current chapter at the previous breaking point, and I found that I like this breakpoint better as it segues into the next chapter.

The next chapter of Death's New Adventure is up!

With it, comes some exciting news. I now have a Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/ShadouFireborn -- If you want to help support me and my writing career, you can choose from several different support tiers. Or, if you just want to donate to me directly, you can still donate through my paypal link https://paypal.me/shadoufireborn

As we come up on the end of the story, I will be looking into additional publishing options for the story... assuming it doesn't win a Watty. If it does win, I'll be bound to a year of exclusivity on Wattpad, as I mentioned before. If not, there's nothing stopping me from publishing it elsewhere. Though in either case, there's nothing that stops me from publishing it on my Patreon, which is a specific exemption given in the Wattys submission rules, so I'll also be looking at options for digital publishing through Patreon.

I just want to give a shout out to Dyvre (@Worldwidewwb) who, as of yesterday (and apologies for only noticing now), is my 100'th follower on Wattpad! Thank you so much for your support.

I also want to thank the other 99 people who have followed me over the course of the last year and a half. Every vote, every follow, every reading list that my story is added to, it all adds up, and I want to thank every one of you for your individual support. It matters so much to me that you all enjoy my writing.

Chapter 14 of Death's New Adventure is drafted and going through proofreading phase, so if you just can't get enough of the story, look forward to the new chapter soon. Thanks again everyone!

Another chapter of Death's New Adventure (Formerly Life as a Succubus in a Fantasy World) is up!

I'm not entirely certain I can finish this story before the Wattys submission cutoffs, but I'm certainly going to be giving it my level best. At current, the length of the story is roughly 60,000 words. I've always been aiming at a story total word count of around 100,000 words, which means we're probably about two-thirds of the way through the story. Which is still a lot of words to write in two months, honestly. Wish me luck.

I am still jobless, and looking for all the help I can get at this point. I've started to put together a patreon site you can support me through, but it's not ready yet. At this point, I'm planning to open the patreon at the same time I post my next chapter. Alternately, you can still donate to me directly through paypal at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/shadoufireborn -- anything I get at this point goes towards living expenses so I can keep writing (and looking for a job, unless something amazing happens).

The newest chapter of my story is up, and with it comes a new title and new description.

I've never really been happy with the title I gave my story. "Life as a Succubus in a Fantasy World" may be descriptive, but it's also a little cringey when I'm being completely honest. The description wasn't much better, and taken all together made my story sound like it was supposed to be one of those poorly translated Japanese light novels I keep seeing popping up everywhere. Or one of those just as poorly written manga-to-text rewrites.

I wanted to distance myself from being associated with that kind of thing, so here we are, with a new title and description. Since my title was also on the cover I had to change that as well, which is just as well since the cover someone made for me featured intellectual property of Wizards of the Coast. Another thing I want to distance myself from; I can't fight against any kind of plagiarism if my own story violates any kind of copyright.

I wish I had good news to report on the job front, but I'm still jobless. At this point I'll take anything I can get; fast food or restaurant jobs are at least better than no job, even if they're becoming well known for exploiting their workforce.

Want to help? My Wattpad Bio contains a donation link. Any little bit helps. I'm also re-examining the idea of opening up a Patreon for my writing. This, of course, hinges on the idea that there's anyone out there that have the means and willingness to donate to support a struggling author. I'll see how things go.

I'm also considering submitting my story to the 2021 Wattys. This would, however, require me to complete the story by the time submissions close, at the end of September. Can it be done? Maybe, we'll see.

For now, though, take care of yourselves everyone, and stay safe.

@ShadouFireborn I say that's a good plan, at least. Sorry, I am not the best example for planning but I'm rooting for you!

@fttguy That's a good question that I don't have an answer to right now. If I finish the story in the next two months and don't have this published anywhere else, I have the opportunity to try to win a Wattys. This story's last opportunity, given the first chapter's initial release date. If I do, I'll be required to allow Wattpad a year of exclusivity. What would I gain from that? Assuming I win any kind of award, possible publishing contracts and a good kick-start to a possible career in writing. It's an enticing possibility. If I don't win anything, then nothing lost, and I still have the right to publish elsewhere.

@ShadouFireborn btw, do you have plans to publish this in other websites to try also your luck?

I realize that it's been a while since I touched in here. So, let's review my 2020.

Around February, I came to the conclusion that my occupation at the time, Rideshare Driver, was too high-risk considering the developing epidemic. In May, I was able to find employment, which kept me too busy to enjoy writing and lasted until August. I was able to save enough to live on for a while, but now I'm nearing the situation I was in back in April before I was able to find employment.

2020 was not a good year. 2021 isn't looking much better if I can't find employment. I'm not going to say I'm sorry I didn't keep writing and updating. Life takes priority. This is currently a hobby. One that I would love to be able to make a living at, but my last post that had a donation link earned me a total of $0.00. I wasn't expecting to receive much, but receiving anything at all would have indicated to me that there was some potential there.

I can't live without income, and my donation link has been up for a year. It's pretty clear I'm not going to make anything from my writing, and so this will remain simply a hobby. I will continue to seek regular employment, and consider the idea of monetizing my writing to be a dead end. Meanwhile, life takes priority. I'll write when I can.

@ShadouFireborn Where is the donation link?

@ShadouFireborn Yes. As someone posted above. You might want to use another basket on this but yes, life takes priority first. Good luck out there!

I’m not sure whether you’ve done this or not but i believe it would be beneficial to consider posting on sites like scribble hub and royal road. it may help gain a few more eyes and hopefully some financially stable people can support your work. Either way I’m glad you’re back hope things take a turn for the better! Stay strong and I pray for better days.
