Why was the urban section removed from Wattpad? Like I’m seriously annoyed, I was just having a conversation with some other users the other day and we were expressing or frustration with black books not being pushed as much as the white authors books, and it’s annoying that we have to type in key words to find books that represented us, and now they removed the urban tab???? Can anyone message me if they know why this happened.

I’ve never been a fan of the term “Urban” to categorise African American literature. Not all black settings are inner city.

They made an announcement that they changed it to contemporary Lit category bc they said the word Urban carries negative connotation and stereotype to describe black creative writing...
