Hey everyone! So I have this issue a lot where I run into really great stories but there is a ton of underlying misogyny. This is something I’ve noticed is super common in Ghost Bird fanfics. It always makes me sad to see, especially because most of the stories are written by young girls. Slut shaming is never okay, and no girl is “better” than another because they don’t wear makeup. It sends a super bad message to shame girls for wearing makeup and acting “slutty” and wearing “slutty” clothes. A women’s body is her choice, and having a villain character who is described as being a “slut” is just not okay. Girls support girls, and having Sang or the boys or whoever your characters are insult other girls by calling them “sluts” or “ugly” is just unacceptable. I’m not trying to attack anyone, this is just a very important message that needs to be said. Let’s not perpetuate the stereotype that girls need to be “pure” and “modest” and “innocent.” If you don’t want to wear makeup and you want to save yourself that’s great and it’s your choice, but there’s nothing wrong with wearing what you want and having casual sex if you want as long as it’s consensual. Thank you so much for reading, and please keep this is mind when writing!
