Suzanne Johnson

I recently got a review for Symbols which said, "You must really be a Trekkie to write a story that good." 
My husband is a Trekkie... He came into our marriage with one basket of clothes and 2 baskets of science fiction memorabilia. He's watched every Star Trek episode from The Original Series through to Picard. He can quote scenes from the movies, he naturally falls into the Vulcan finger salute as if he's been doing it from infancy (possibly so), he espouses the wisdom of Spock and can speak a smattering of Klingon. I'm pretty sure his secret bucket list includes going to a convention dressed as a Vulcan. 
While I spent most of the mid to late 1990's on the couch feeding babies, while my husband subjected his captive audience to countless hours of Deep Space Nine and Voyager that he'd bought on VHS cassettes. That was up until the Voyager episode Basics Part 1. Then it was me queueing up outside our local Blockbuster waiting for a copy of Basics Part 2 on the day of release. From that point on, I was hooked. I greatly admire the acting talents of Kate Mulgrew and all the Star Trek: Voyager cast, enough to be inspired to write Symbols. But I don't think I'm a Trekkie (of course, I could be wrong) because I'm pretty sure that's my husband's calling in life!  ~Suzanne Johnson.
