Tessa Robinson

This book, The House Of Mr Christus, is set in the 1950s/60s in a fictional location along the coastline of the Caribbean Sea. My memories of the place I was born, Belize, were coloured by the many trips to boarder towns, to the north and south of Belize. All these memories of place are rolled into one, in this novel. 

The histories of the people who populate the novel, like myself, have been forged out of colonialism, and, like myself, that history is also written in the bloodline of the characters, a mixture of Native American (Maya), African and European. 

Writing has always been something which I have done as an extension to painting, drawing and sculpting. The link between the two is narrative, my paintings tell stories. I think my art says more about me than any image of myself, so I have used one of my paintings as my Wattpad profile photo. I have a stockpile of photos of my artworks, and I will display these within the context of my profile image.
