Hello friends! Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to the Cave! I have a question for you guys today and please remember the guidelines for the community when answering!:

I had a conversation with my roommate this morning about gender roles, patriarchy, feminism, and other related topics. As a result, I am planning to start working on my next Uncomfy Study on Gender Roles.

Are there any concerns or questions that you feel I should make sure I study and include in this message? Here is what will be included as of now:

          	- Gender Roles in the Family
          	- Gender Roles in Society
          	- Gender Roles in the Church
          	- Biblical View on Patriarchy and its Ensuing Issues
          	- Biblical View on Feminism and its Ensuing Issues
          	- Biblical Response to Patriarchy and Feminism

I will be doing a separate Uncomfy Study one day on Marriage and Family, so I'm not focusing on that more than I will need to right now. And these are umbrella concepts, so ask if I will be discussing certain topics within them and point out any that you have questions about, that you think the Church needs to be educated more on, etc.

Look forward to hearing from you!

          	- Jay (Cave Founder)

Sorry i’m a few days late, but God gave me these verses to share :)

”Give your worries to the Lord, and he will care for you. He will never let those who are good be defeated.“
            ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭55‬:‭22‬ ‭ERV

”But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you. I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth,“

Pine here, it's past midnight but I just remembered before going to bed, so I'm going to write a quick message and I hope it may help someone.

Tonight my dear Sister in Christ gave me a very important and healing reminder, that God's Strength is made perfect in our weakness. It was 100% the Holy Spirit's prompting- she prayed for the words to say and this was exactly what I needed to hear.
I believe many people need to hear this as well.

"And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." ~2 Corinthians 12:9

I've been weary, but God is strong in my life.

When we're weary, during times like my past few days, the best thing to do is to come to Him.

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” ~Matthew 11:28-30

The most important thing is to lean on our Lord and trust Him through it all.
Please pray that I will lean on Him and stay close, through everything. And pray to lean on and trust Him as well, always.

We have a Perfect Lord with Whom we're never alone.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you." ~Isaiah 43:2

"I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
          The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
          My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
          ~Psalm 18:1-2

So grateful, for His Mercy throughout my shortcoming, His Strength throughout my weakness and His Protection throughout my struggles.

          Amen.

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Hello, my fellow warriors! Jay here, to announce the Cave is active today! Come and receive whatever you need today- prayers, refreshment, or even just a listening ear. Also, check out the post I made last week. . . I forgot to make it an announcement, but I think it would make for an interesting discussion. Finally, I will continuing work on a new message that I hope to publish here today or next Wednesday!

May God bless and keep all of you!

TheDavidCave

Good morning, my friends! Welcome to the Cave, all who are here and weary on this day! Jay, here, if a bit of an unusual concept to think on and explore.

I was reading Exodus 13 earlier this week and came across where God gave Moses the command to the Israelites to consecrate their firstborn sons and animals to the LORD (also: when this word is in all caps, it is saying God's name: Yawheh or Jehovah). And for some reason, I was hit different by the second time God repeated the commandment here:

          ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭13:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬
"you are to give over to the Lord the first offspring of every womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the Lord."

Because right here. . . He never specified the sex of the firstborn. There was another place He didn't specify either in my paper Bible, where He said to redeem all the firstborn to Him. And I heard Him say to me, "You are consecrated to Me, too."

See. . . One of the things I have always struggled with as a female firstborn is. . . Wishing I was born a male. And hang on with me, because I know that has all kinds of connotations in today's day and age.

Especially as I came to understand and grow in my spiritual giftings and callings, I found myself thinking about how much easier it would have been if I was a male. A male would have had an easier time demanding the attention and respect of the Church, a male would have an easier time fulfilling their calling through becoming a pastor or an elder. . . Everything would be easier. Plus, if I was male, my family name would have stuck more easily when I got married. .

          (Continued below)

TheDavidCave

@TheDavidCave It wasn't until I met with one of my mentors a couple months ago where I realized that I was even thinking this way. Because we were working on untangling lies Satan was telling me (still are working through these). And she looked me in the eye, and bluntly asked, "As a firstborn daughter, do you ever think that you should have been born male?"

The question had startled me- more out of its blunt presentation than its content- and I just said, "Yes."

See. . . I'm speaking to all my firstborn sisters out there. It is so easy. . . . When living in a patriarchal world, to believe that things would be easier if you were born male. And yeah. . . That may be true in lots of ways. But such ways of thinking. . . Are a subtle lie from the devil.

Because God created us exactly as He wanted us. If He wanted every firstborn to be males, He would've made it so. But He didn't. And He has a calling for all of us, whether male or female, firstborn or last born. Because our God. . . He has placed value and respect on all His children. Christianity was and is one of the first religions (faiths) that gave women value. . . And I think we forget that. (P.S. I will be writing an Uncomfy Study on gender roles at some point, so look out for that!)

Anyway, all that to say and ask. . . Are there any other firstborn females out there who relate to this feeling? And/or am I completely alone in finding comfort that God values all of us, no matter sex or age?

Hey, I've just discovered this account and I just want to say thank you. We have so many siblings in Christ that just need someone to talk to or to pray for them

@haleighbook Indeed, we do. I am saddened that it has become so inconsistent, but I am hoping to change that and continue to serve this purpose. I and the rest of our team appreciate your words of gratitude. . . They mean alot and are very encouraging to us, so thank you :)

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:15‭-‬18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
[15] The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: [16] “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” [17] Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” [18] And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.

Hello, my fellow weary travellers and warriors! Jay here with a verse from my studies this morning. Specifically verse 18. For some reason, this verse hit me hard this morning when I had the realization:

The purpose of an offering-a sacrifice- to the Lord has changed. I no longer give an offering because who I am and what I've done. . . But because of Who He is and what He has done.

I don't have to punish myself for my sin. . . That is not an offering pleasing to Him because it is focusing on me and what I've done. What we offer. . . Should be offered in gratitude now, not shame or guilt.

Anyway, Cave is open! Feel free to reach out today!

@TheDavidCave Amen!! Our offerings should be Praise offerings! This is so true and important, and I'm realizing the Holy Spirit has put a similar message on my heart. When I think about works as well- our good works should not be attempts to save ourselves but rather to glorify, serve, and please the One who already DID save us!

Hi, it's Pine. Finally remembering that it's Monday! XD I hope it's a blessed day walked closely with the Lord. :)

Before we start with the rest of my message, I'd like to praise the Lord for His mercy and forgiveness as well as conviction.
"My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world." ~ 1 John 2:1-2 How amazing is His Mercy and Sacrifice and how incredible!
I must confess I've messed up today, I've sinned and there is no excuse. God's Grace is incredible and should never be taken for granted by us through sinning. I repent, and I hope to do better. The goal and responsibility is to avoid sin and how good it is that the Holy Spirit convicts us and leads us back to right decisions- I pray to follow His guidance more closely next time and repent of all the times I haven't listened. May we all listen promptly to His instruction, me included for sure as this is what I need to fix.
I'm so grateful for God's Grace. How incredible that with no excuse to compensate, there is Justification in Christ. With His own blood He rescued us!
"...To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." ~ Revelation 1:5-6
How great is His Goodness, shining against the backdrop of my inadequacy, how incredible and immeasurable His Mercy!

TheDavidCave

As I read the Gospel of John, a few days ago God has guided me in His Spirit to a new journey of spiritual growth- inviting me to read and look deeper into each of Jesus' "I Am" Statements. These Words are filled with Truth and power, and reveal so much about Who our Savior Lord Jesus truly is to us and how this guides our Relationship with Him.
I pray to start getting deeper in the Word on this path soon, and I look forward in faith and hope to this journey of understanding, embracing praying about, learning from, and finding comfort in each of these incredible Statements of Our Lord.

The Passage I would like to share today, is one that God has put on my heart and spoken so deeply through- praise be to Him! :D

John 15:1-8 ~ Jesus is the True Vine
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
Abide in Me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."

In the midst of figuring out my purpose and calling, striving to make sure I'm serving God, these are such encouraging, comforting, and guiding Words to hear from Jesus.
It is good to remember that whatever we do, we must do in Him. Abiding in the Lord, the Vine of our Life, is the first thing to be sure of, and this understanding brings clarity.

(It is also important to remember that as the same chapter continues, Jesus explains that abiding in His Love is by keeping His Commandments. And the Commandment He gives us, and in this Scripture reminds us of, is to love God and each other. To abide in the Vine and please the Vinedresser we must love, for He is Love.)

May we pray to abide in Him in all we do, every step of our lives walked beside our Shepherd, in obedience to Jesus to the glory of God the Father.

Pine here, and I have decided that tonight I will share a recent testimony of the Lord's comfort in my life, a reminder of God's Grace; of the way He uses people in our lives and comes to help us whenever we need it most.

It was just last night that I received an unexpected message from my dear Sister in Christ. The Holy Spirit had spoken to her during Church service, calling her to share a part of the sermon with me.

Unbeknownst to my friend -a matter which had been between me and God alone- I had struggled the past few days, facing spiritual warfare and anxiety, mainly worries about falling away from faith, and doubts about whether I would be found to be Chosen in the day of Judgement.

The sermon was actually about our security in Christ, and focused on the Time of the Rapture and Judgement, when Christ will confess us as His Own before His Father, with descriptions of His Grace that was comforting to think about. At one point he said Christ would declare that we're worthy BECAUSE we're in Him. Earlier, when I'd worried about being unworthy of Salvation Jesus, as I prayed, had reassured me of the same thing- it's His Worth, not mine.
A lot of the things spoken of were reminders I needed to hear in that exact time in my life- and I truly believe God used my friend to get through to me.

          ~Pine (continued in replies)

TheDavidCave

This is the story of how God used my Sister in Christ, and a sermon spoken miles away from my town, to reassure me of His Grace. I pray you may be blessed through hearing of the things God has done in my life. <3

The very gesture, the very fact that He used my friend to give me this message, is a touching blessing of its own as well. Even when I've messed up, when I'm so clearly weak and not "good enough" and just being weak- during a time that I felt so unlovable God still cared so much about me, enough to give my friend this message for my comfort. This event reminded me of a simple truth: I am Loved. <3
And the Lord is so so Good <3

And the verse I share today is one shown to me by God during my Bible reading this morning, which reminded me right away of the message of security from last night, the Lord reinforcing His reassurance through Scripture.
Romans 8:34-35 (I recommend reading the whole passage that these words are in- God speaks this message and more blessings through so many verses in that chapter):

"Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"

Christ is the One who died for our sins already, the One who justifies us -it's not our worries or doubts that get the final say but Him, and His Father. Jesus Christ intercedes for us. And, even as He does so, He loves us with a Love that nothing can take away, no feelings of worry can separate us from His Compassion. And that's the source of our Security, in Him.

            ~Pine
