Jessie is a writer who lives in a cave with many, many pet rocks to keep her company. She is best known for her inability to finish any of her novels and her deep love of fairy tales and fantasy.

My main project is a series I've been wanting to do for a while: telling some of my favourite traditional fairy tales in a more modern style of prose (for example I will give the characters names beyond 'the king' or 'the fox' or 'the miller's daughter') and also changing details that I feel don't make sense. Some of these stories are designed to be picture books so they will be relatively short and fairly simplistic but I hope they will still be enjoyable. The whole point of a Good Story is that it doesn't need pictures! Others started out as picture books and became novels. The only one currently available on Wattpad is my retelling of The Frog Prince, but I do plan on eventually adding more. I also have a blog, The Wordsmith's Workshop, where I post chapters of stories and very occasionally other writing related things. You can check it out at thewordsmithsworkshop.blogspot.com

If you have a favourite fairy tale that you'd like to see me retell then let me know, I always love ideas. Email me at thenostalgicbookshelf@gmail.com and tell me what the story is and why you'd like to see me retell it. I am absolutely open to retelling various myths and legends from different mythologies, it doesn't have to be a fairy tale.
