@percabethiloveyou Hi, Percabeth. Thank you so for reaching out out. I'm humbled by your message. The diagnosis always leaves you feeling like someone punched you in the gut.
First of all, IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT. YOU'RE WORTHY. If someone tells you otherwise, they don't care about you and you need to purge them from your circles. If it's family members, don't listen to them as much as it pains you.
All feelings are valid. I've now come to accept the dark ones. They're feelings as well and need to be addressed. It's OK not to be OK.
Regarding coping mechanisms, each person is different. Music helps me deal with all kind of emotions, embrace them and deal with them. You can try doing things you like or want to try: dancing, drawing, painting, puzzles, writing. Avoid social media like IG like the plague. You'll end up comparing to other people and that's not good.
Go for a walk, whether short or long, out in the nature if possible. And every day if the weather allows it. Or just sit on the balcony.
Trust your gut with people. If you feel a good vibe and they're for you, stick with them. Purge toxic people who are mean to you. It will be like a detox plan.
TAKE YOUR TIME. No rush. Your mental health is your top priority.
Don't be ashamed to seek out professional help. I found one that is amazing.
I'm afraid I don't know much about ptsd but I'm sure a great therapist will will help you.
You are a good person. You matter. Your feelings are valid. Everything will be fine.
If you ever need anything, email me. The email is in my bio. Will be quicker than through here.
Stay safe. Hugs,
Laia
