My name's Z B Hunter, I'm a fantasy writer slash occasional poet (poet is a very strong word here) and I've been writing ever since I was around 6 years of age.

When I was 11, I had an idea for a story about Black teen superheroes and it has consumed my thoughts ever since. (I'm hurtling towards 30 at breakneck speed as I type this.)

The novel is about a group of teenagers who acquire superpowers and decide to use them to help make their community safer, but realise that there's a lot more going on in the background than what they assumed.

It's the kind of story I wanted to read when I was younger. It features a Black male lead with Black female love interest as well as LGBTQ+ characters, supervillians, monsters, sinister organisations and secret rebellions. It draws inspiration from Avatar: The Last Airbender and basically every Marvel movie to ever exist. AND it's a superhero story that's set in London, UK and not New York for once.

Over the years, I developed this idea, writing it, scrapping it and rewriting it, not writing it for years and then picking it up again from the very beginning but never getting further than halfway.

During that time, I went to university to study Creative Writing, in which I graduated with a 1st. I've done a few bits of freelance writing and I am currently working as an Email Marketer in the Higher Education sector.

I'm now in the process of workshopping with some writer friends who have kindly offered to beta-read and I'm preparing the first few chapters for submission. The goal is to publish the novel as part of a series and fulfil my lifelong dream of becoming an author!

And that's why I've found myself on Wattpad, convinced by my Instagram followers (all 15 of them) that they would read it if I put the story online. I have no idea where this will take me, it might not take me anywhere at all! But we don't know unless we try, right?
