Barry served in the medical services of the British Army for twenty years, deploying on operations to Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Primarily a war poet, he draws on the duality of his role as a soldier-nurse to write visceral, exciting and harrowing poems depicting the highs and lows of modern soldiering.

Now retired from the Army, Barry is exploring new subjects for his poetry as well as writing memoir pieces and short fiction stories.

Barry's debut book, 'On Afghanistan's Plains' was written in serial form on wattpad and is now available to buy in paperback and kindle edition through amazon.
