An abnormal and persistent fear of depths. Sufferers from bathophobia experience anxiety even though they realize they are safe from falling into or being consumed by depths. The feared object may be a long, dark hallway, a well or a deep pool or lake.

❝you gave him a taste of your 'love' ; the smoke from the cigarette you disguised as i love you's, and the ash from the bud as gentle kisses. he felt his lungs grow weak, and thought that it was just the sight of you taking his breath away, but in reality, it was just a disease slowly infecting his once pure blood ; a hollow sigh after sobbing for hours to fill the silence. he felt his throat grow scratchy, and thought it was from laughing, but in reality, it was the smoke filling his once lively voice ; a hoarse and strained mumble put in its absence. he felt his heart leap to his throat, and he thought it was out of loving you, but in reality, it was the heart attack you gave him after ripping his heart out and stomping it out ; an ash tray of burned out hopes and self esteem as the aftermath.
just like the cigarette called 'love' you gave him in the first place.❞
