Hello everyone!
I'm sorry that I've been so quiet lately. I've been teaching a lot and have been quietly working on new books. You might have seen that I recently posted Cages and Monsters, which is a bit different from Schism and Voodootown, but I'm still pretty proud of it.
You might also see that I've changed my username to Bruce Hill. Hill was my Mother's maiden name and she passed away this last winter from Covid. She was vaccinated, but was almost 90 and when she caught it, her heart couldn't take the strain.
So, I'm changing my pen name to honor her and all she did for me.

On a sunnier note, I might have some news about Voodootown soon, and it might at least partly involve the sequel, which I know a lot of people have been asking for.

Also, I have a question for all of you. What are the biggest teen story and romance cliches that you can think of? I'm working on something new and want to incorporate your favorite and most outlandish cliches.

I hope you all are well and healthy and are getting some good writing and reading time. Please stay safe and treat each other well.

          	Bruce

@tenyaemaro Oh, the coffee is a good idea. And it might be very hard to do with the scenario that I have in mind, so that makes it even more fun. Thanks!!

Everyone,

The University of Iowa’s International Writing Program is offering another free online writing course that starts this month. The U of I is considered the best writing school in the world and these online classes (MOOCs) are a great chance to explore new aspects of your writing with people from all over the world. Once again, I’m very excited to be one of the instructors.

Here is a little about the class:

This course takes a creative fiction and non-fiction approach to understanding and recognizing information, misinformation, and disinformation. You as participants will work with iconic pieces such as The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells and Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius by Jorge Luis Borges as well as more recent fiction and non-fiction texts, technically exploring how elements of information are used, and experimenting with these elements in your own creative fiction and non-fiction responses, contributing to the identification and strengthening of the roles of mythbusters, debunkers, and individuals in countering disinformation.
The course content includes writers who are both native and non-native English speakers, and we welcome those of you who are working on your own English language skills. Reading and listening to writers from a variety of backgrounds, and locating your own voice and and recounting your own experiences through creative writing are strong language practice techniques.
The course starts 15 November 8.00 AM Central Time/USA (GMT-6:00) and goes through 31 December 2019, then stays open as self-paced until 15 March, to allow for flexibility of enrollment.

Here is the link to join the free class: #!/courses/hidden-meanings/flyer" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://iowa.novoed.com #!/courses/hidden-meanings/flyer

Please help spread the word by forwarding this to as many people as you can. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
