            tommy nodded slightly at the elder’s words,  though they still didn’t mean much to him.  " i shouldn’t be, "  he murmured quietly,  chewing down on his lip nervously.  " you - you weren’t supposed to find me …  "  he added slowly,  swallowing,  as if in preparation for something.  " dream was. "  he didn’t elaborate on what he meant, just stared down at his feet and the tattered shoes  ' protecting '  them as he swung his legs back and forth.  this was awkward.  if he was going to open up to anyone,  if anyone was going to find him here besides dream — why captain puffy?  they’d only talked,  like,  twice,  and it wasn’t like she would care.  who did?

            “ but i’m not lying . you’re sitting next to me now , right ? you’re surviving . ” it was said in a factly manner , almost as if puffy would go to war for this truth . she took in the orange and lilac hues in front of her before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath . the former captain wished she’d new how to reach out , how to get him to open up . but she was too cautious , too scared of messing up . puffy knew herself . she knew she would blame anything that happened to the younger boy on herself . but she didn’t know tommy as much as she needed to to help .

            tommy shivered at the breeze,  nodding slowly at puffy’s words.  she was wrong.  he wasn’t strong.  he  / had /  lost it.  and he was on the verge of not - surviving.  nothing she said was true.  " you don’t have to lie,  puffy, "  he said quietly,  looking down at his lap to stare at his fidgeting hands.  wait,  no,  stop.  dream doesn’t like that.  he awkwardly stopped the motion,  putting his tense hands to his side,  pursing his lips as he looked forward now.  he couldn’t do this.  why hadn’t dream just been the one to find him?

            puffy watched as tommy stopped , watched as he stumbled in fear . it took a few moments to click . but then it did , and puffy couldn't believe she was that oblivious . she should've realized it sooner , she thought , she should've known . puffy was / angry / , not at tommy but at the person who inflicted this much suffering in him . but the female washed it down for the boy's sake , slowly stepping towards him . she made sure to keep her hands where he could see them , not wanting to make him panic even more than he already was . " hey , hey it's alright . " puffy tried to make her breathing more obvious , a bit slower , in hopes the boy would catch on and repeat her .

            /        they really are ! ! i think they’re some of the more realistically written characters and definitely deserve more attention than they get 
            
            puffy realized tommy wasn’t going to move , and took the first slight jab in his direction . she moved the shovel towards him slightly , then quickly pulled it back as if she was testing his reaction skills . puffy didn’t plan on throwing the dirt at the blonde , considering she did need to fill back up the hole she got it from in the first place . the female just wanted to see how long it would last .

            hannah was trying , puffy could tell . she tried to push behind any doubts of the other girl that crept into her mind , but puffy would be lying if she said they weren’t still there . she knew it wasn’t hannah’s fault , she knew the egg was a powerful being that had many under its control , but she also knew that weariness was key in a place like this . so , puffy stepped to the side in order to let hannah in with utmost caution . 
            
            “ those are pretty flowers , i will admit . ” she tried her best to give off a small smile . “ i hope you do understand , though , why i’m upset . ” puffy sighed out .

            Hannah noticed the deflation. It wasn’t hard to see it. The faltered smile, watching the joy leave Puffy, the way she put her guard up again. She attempted a smile at the sheep hybrid. “Hey Puffy... I-I just wanted to talk about what happened.” She extended the bouquet towards her. “Here’s some flowers. I thought they’d be a good apology gift.”

            broken out of her thoughts , the sheep hybrid heard the familiar ring coming from her door . just what she needs , some company . picking up a bit of pep again , puffy put on her warmest smile and headed over to the wooden door to greet the mystery guest . her eyes were met with nervous ones , ones she had seen plenty of times before . puffy’s smile faltered at the sight of someone she had painted as a traitor . she didn’t want to have any grudges against the other , as hannah had always been welcoming and sweet towards her , but it was hard when hannah had done the things that she did . blinking , puffy stiffened up in attempts to appear more on - guard .
             
            “ hannah . ”
