Frankie took the book from him carefully, fingers brushing his for half a second before she pulled it against her chest. “Thanks,” she said softly, finally laughing a little at herself now that the initial panic had passed.
Then she noticed the way he’d reacted to the spark — surprised, sure, but not scared — and her expression brightened slightly because of it. “Okay, you’re handling the electricity thing way better than most people do.” She glanced briefly toward the bolt near her neck, a tiny spark snapping again like it was betraying her on purpose. “Usually people either run away or ask if I can charge their phone.”
Her smile turned sheepish afterward as she looked back at him. “So… are you always this nice to random girls that nearly knock themselves unconscious running into you, or am I getting special treatment?”
