@letfear        the  party  tie  is  especially  for  parties.

@2belast         okay,     and  ??    i’m  wearing  a  normal  tie ..     

@letfear        .. because,    we’re  going  to  a  [party,]   aegon.    i  have  to  wear  my  party  tie.

@letfear      [  she  only  managed  a  pair  of  narrowed  eyes  at  her  son’s  comment,   in  hopes  that  her  silence  conveyed  all  that  she  needed  it  to  in  the  moment.   'don’t  be  a  prick,'    to  put  it  simply.    it  was  no  secret  to  anyone,    much  less  flora  how  much  her  children  despised  outings  such  as  this  nowadays.    but,   it  had  never  truly  snuffed  out  her  excitement  for  them.    watching  her  children  all  suited  up,    even  if  they  weren’t  the  biggest  fans  of  it  now.    —it  never  ceased  to  remind  her  of  how  much  they  were  growing,    when  they  were  younger..     and  the  same  could  easily  be  said  for  now.    helping  her  boy  with  his  formal-wears.    she  took  to  simply  watching  as  he  fixed  his  hair  for  himself,    admittedly  proud  at  his  precision.    either  she  was  rubbing  off  on  him,    or  her  badgering  about  his  appearance  was  at  last..    starting  to  pay  off.   ]      i  was  (definitely)  a  cool  mom.    —i  mean,    even  you  used  to  think  so.   in  your  younger  years.    ive  got  a  mug,    and  a  macaroni  project  to  prove  it.

@davibled           i’m  only  hoping  we  aren’t  there  for  long.     —unlike  you,     i  have  other  things  i’d  much  rather  be  doing ..     [    if  he  had  still  been  a  child?    this  family  event  would  more  or  less  have  made  him  excited  ..    even  if  it  was  the  smallest  of  gatherings.      aging,     had  made  aegon  more  brooding   &    distant  than  ever.      he  seemed  to  prefer  it  that  way,      never  exactly  noticing  much  of  a  change  ..     though  it  was  a  big  one,     whether  he  admitted  it  or  not.      with  his  shirt  now  fixed,    looking  somehow  more  presentable  than  he  already  believed  he  did     —he  ran  a  hand  through  his  own  hair,     quickly  fixing  any  mess  before  his  mother  would  spot  and  fix  it  for  herself.   ]      if  you  were  me,     i  assure  you    —you’d  find  it  embarrassing.        —and  for  the  record  ..   you’ve  never  been  a  (cool  mom)  at  all,     so  it’s  not  really  much  of  a  loss.     not  as  much  as  you  think  it  is,      anyways. 

@letfear       well  regardless,   aegon..   i—    along  with  your  cousin  and  uncles,   appreciate  you  going.    [   it  was  clear  that  at  times  like  these,      she  got  a  kick  out  of  embarrassing  aegon.     unintentionally,   considering  it  was  only  her  nature  to  be  so  affectionate  towards  her  children,   but  the  fact  it  so  easily  turned  him  a  cherry  red  was,   ironically—    the  cherry  on  top.     she  allows  her  hands  to  be  gently  removed,    watching  with  a  gleeful  smile  as  aegon  began  fixing  the  shirt  himself,    the  (right  way)  it  seemed.  ]     my  age  must  be  catching  up  to  me,   then.   im  growing..   too  old  to  still  be  the  cool  mom.    —but,   ill  have  you  know..   it  is  not  my   (intention)  to  embarrass  you.   i  only  like  to ..   admire.   the  man  my  son  is  growing  into.   embarrassing  you  just ..   comes  along  with  it.    a  package  deal,   if  you  will.    —only,   (you)  make  it  out  to  be  embarrassing.

            [    it  had  never  been  difficult,     lying  to  cade.     the  more  he  had  been  sneaking  around  with  his  boyfriend?      he’d  become  more  accustomed  to  it,      &  beforehand  the  carson  boy  had  already  been  good  at  covering  up  his  schemes.     the  only  obstacle  with  this  one,     was  cade  being  involved.      it  didn’t  exactly    …     hurt  mason,    to  do  this  behind  his  back.     as  disgusting  as  it  was,     part  of  him  really  believed  he  was  doing  this  to  look  after  his  friend.      deep  down,      it  was  undeniable  jealousy    …    mason  had  assumed  that  he  was  doing  cade  a  favour.       out  of  the  jealousy  that  consumed  him?      mason  seemed  to  know,    (   in  his  own  mind  of  course,   )     that  hunter   wasn’t  good  enough  for  caeden  duval.      that’s  why  it  was  so  easy  for  him  to  feed  these  lies  to  his  best  friend.     firm,    yet  gentle  grip  still  kept  upon  the  duval  boys  hands.      ──with   a  soft   &    just    (  almost  )  convincing  smile  toying  at  his  lips.    ]       you  don’t  have  to  be  sorry,    okay?     if  anything,    i  am.     from  now  on    …     if  i  ever  decide  to  hang  out  with  hunter,     i’ll  let  you  know,     okay?      it’s  never  gonna  be  anything  weird,      cade.     i’d  never  do  anything  to  hurt  you.

            [     it  took  everything  in  him  not  to  look  mason  in  the  eyes  at  the  moment.    everything  about  the  situation  he,   his  best  friend,   &   his  boyfriend  had  found  themselves  in  seemed  messy  and  complicated.    &   cade   was  honestly  not  supporting  in  it  going  any  further.    despite  how  things  had  sounded,     everything  in  him  wanted  to  trust  his  best  friend  to  tell  him  the  truth.      about  everything.     and  everything  in  him  wanted  his  intuitions  that  mason  was  saying  anything  but  the  truth  to  wash  away.   but,   they  didn’t.     they  were  always  there    &     they  lingered.    but  cade's  gotten  much  better  at  hiding  them  away.      ───burying  them  from  the  surface  since  the  start  of  all  this.   a  glance  towards  the  hands  that  have  taken  his.     a  beat  passing  before  his  attention  refocuses  on  his  “best  friend,”     chocolate  brown  hues  meeting  the  carson’s  own.    how  can  he  think  any  ill  of  mason  when  he  looks  at  him  like  this?    when  he  ( holds  )   him  like  this.     he  feels  almost  weak,    the  reassuring  nod  he  gives    …      he  knows  he’ll  trust  anything  mason  says.     regardless  of  what  he    ( knows   )      is  the  truth.   ]         i  believe  you.    im  sorry  i  thought  …        anything  different.     you  wouldn’t  do  that.    i  know  you  wouldn’t.

            you  know  you  can  trust  me,    right  cade?     i  mean  ..   i  get  why  you  would  question  all  of  that.    it  seems  suspicious,   and  i’m  sorry  it  came  off  that  way.       [      putting  on  an  act  seemed  harder  in  moments  like  this.     mason  had  decided  to  stand  by  what  he  started,    though.       ───it  didn’t  exactly  make  it  any  easier.       a  small  frown  had  etched  its  way  upon  his  gestures,      before  gentle  hands  reached  out  and  took  a  hold  of  his  “  best  friends,  ”      frown  quick  to  be  replaced  with  a  warm  &  convincing  smile.     if  anyone  was  good  at  lying  to  this  extent;     it  was  mason.    ]       i  would  have  felt  the  same  way,    if  i  was  you   …   but  i  promise,    nothing  is  going  on  between  me   &   hunter.        i  would  never  do  that  to  you,    cade.       you  believe  me    ..  right?

            me  and  hunter  are  friends.    we  have  been  for  a  couple  of  years  now.     —it’s  not  like  (  that,  )     especially  considering  cade  is  in  the  picture  ..
