          Ok, so I have a Harry Potter theory and I don’t know if you guys have heard of this or whatever. This only makes sense if you read the books. 
          
          
          I think Crookshanks is the cat Lily mentioned in her letter to Sirius in the 7th book. 
          
          - Firstly, when Hermione first got Crookshanks, she claimed no one wanted him because he was cursed.
          
          -People though Voldemort was still alive in the philosophers stone.
          
          - How would Crookshanks know Peter betrayed them, or that he was Scabbers. 
          
          - Before Lily & James’ death, crookshanks probably had seen Peter as both himself and his rat form. 
          
          - He also knew who Sirius was, as she slipped him the paper with the passwords.
          
          ~I haven’t read the books for ages so I don’t have anymore points~
